Usage
How is Atomium used and by whom?
To quote from an apparel client’s internal feedback summaries: Atomium is used “... for advertised programmes; creating orders; prep for meetings to see how targets can be met; assembling outfits pre-merchandise; making it easy for the buyers to buy; presentation meetings; customised catalogues and technical training.”
For intangible products and services it supports customer profiling, puts a product rule book in the salesman’s hands, enables configuration of product/service variables, auto publishes compliance and legal notices in quotations and mini-brochure leave-behinds.
What problem does Atomium solve?
The fundamental problem solved by Atomium is the need for comprehensive, accurate and up to date information. Useful though they are, printed catalogues are out of date as soon as printed, a spreadsheet is not a presentation tool and PowerPoint has no in-built intelligence. Enterprise software solutions are process and data heavy but not intuitive or visually rich, and web sites support human to machine interactions very well but are not designed to support human to human dialogue – also known as selling, solution finding, training, advising.
Furthermore, the increasing number of channels for product and service data (web sites, print catalogues, workbooks, electronic data feeds etc.) emphasises the need for an Atomium type solution because, instead of being centrally available, data kept by businesses is frequently scattered throughout disparate departments, and held by certain employees or systems and in different formats.
How is the information within the Atomium utilised?
Atomium is focussed on coordinating and linking information about products and services, with a focus on the data required to market and sell them through one or more distribution channels. Intelligence is built into the software, making connections and telescoping users to focus on relevant information to support the type of interaction, whether that be a sales meeting, marketing presentation, training session or customer service query.
What is the difference between Atomium and a web site?
Atomium is unique in that it remains always “on” and available to the user even without a live internet connection. This means that as soon as a user disconnects their lap top computer from the office network or from their home-office internet, the Atomium application on their computer is fully populated with all the latest product and related information. This portability eliminates reliance on an unreliable, slow and expensive mobile internet connection and allows a confident and uninterrupted sales pitch, marketing presentation or training session. Where there is internet access then live links can be made, if required, to all central information systems and sources that are available. This means accessing latest stock information, order transit and delivery progress as well as updated price information or revised marketing information and collateral.
Does Atomium support a data driven business?
In addition to feeding consistent, accurate and up to date information to the Interactive Product Guide and expert sales presenter functions of Atomium, the set of data held by an Atomium is also often used by our customers to provide electronic data feeds to B2B web sites and sales order processing systems. Two way relationships also exist at various levels between Atomium and the intelligence functions within CRM, PLM/PDM and ERP systems. Examples include assortment and range planning, customer contact and order details.

Implementation
How do I know where Atomium fits in my company?
Each market sector and company is different. The precise positioning and emphasis for Atomium will depend on what your needs are and what software and other systems already exist in your business.
Examples of where Atomium fits and delivers improvements include; reducing the cost of sample sets in apparel and footwear, eliminating time delays between range finalisation and printed brochure production, visualising product road maps, enforcing product rule books thus streamlining product configuration and eliminating products with low or unviable margin.
Rarely do we find companies who have it all covered and Atomium is a tool that successfully exploits digital technologies to allow businesses to save money and sell more.
How does Atomium get built and deployed?
To deliver a fully effective Atomium solution for your business we will immerse ourselves in your brand story, the products and services you offer, key information that’s important to communicate to your customers and differentiators that make you stand out from the competition.
Most importantly, we will need to understand how you sell, market, train and provide customer service, and how the data and various other elements work together, so that product information flows seamlessly to facilitate the sales and other processes.
Led by a dedicated Project Manager, we will capture your requirements, and understand your product data and its relationships to create a core database of product and related information around which the Atomium will be built.
Maintaining your brand integrity is essential. Our graphic designers will take their lead from your brand guidelines and current assets to ensure the look and feel of your Atomium is on-message and fits comfortably with your existing sales and marketing materials.
Why do I need an Atomium?
Every business needs to describe the products and services from which it derives its income. For some businesses it is easier than for others. The best way to sell a product, or train someone, is to have it in your hands and use it, but not all businesses can do that, even if they have tangible products.
So if you accept that the future is digital then Atomium is a software application that can help you. Atomium is also an idea, a concept and a vision of simplicity where people are given the right tools for the job, where technology is harnessed to the needs of the business and the people who contribute to the growth and success of the operation at all levels.
This is born out of the belief that digital tools can make a difference, that they can effectively support human interactions, can help sell more products, communicate more effectively, save time and money and generally make things smarter and simpler.
The realisation of this idea in fact requires a dedication to the detail and much of what we do is to help you organise and manage information by converting and integrating data accurately and consistently. By resolving complexity and building intellligence in to the software we ensure that when Atomium gets in to the hands of the user it behaves as the simple easy to use application that characterises the best in digital tools.
